Our Leaders

We’d like to introduce you to our leadership team here at Wellspring. These women are filled with vision for other women to come to know and love God. They meet together regularly to plan our conferences and to seek God for His plans for this ministry. Here are some things you may or may not know about each of them!

Gloria Cotten, President Wellspring Women's Ministry

Gloria Cotten

Name: Gloria Cotten
Role at Wellspring: President
Married/Kids: Married to Michael for over 40 years, 3 sons, 3 daughters-in-law, 6 grandkids. 1 granddog.
Why do you love the Lord? He Alone has the words of life.
If you could give one piece of advice to any woman, what would it be? Let Jesus love you.
Most disastrous hair, make-up or wardrobe moment: I once walked the entire length of North Hills Mall in Raleigh trailing a long stream of toilet paper from under the back of my skirt. Friends waiting for me at the far end of the mall enjoyed it immensely!
Favorite ice cream flavor: CHOCOLATE!
Favorite place to shop: The internet, from my home. I really despise traditional shopping, except on a few rare occasions, in memory, when I found something spectacular in under an hour.
Hobbies: I used to quilt and loved it but have not started a new quilt in about 6–8 years. I still have my fabric stash, so there is still hope!
What is one of your dreams for the future? At least 2, perhaps 3, more books.

Queen Utley-Smith, board member Wellspring

Queen Utley-Smith

Name: Queen Utley-Smith
Role at Wellspring: Board Member
Occupation: I am the head of the Masters in Nursing program at a University.
What’s something you’re passionate about? Women’s health issues and making women more aware of the importance of caring for our bodies.

Sheri Ferguson Cox, board member Wellspring

Sheri Ferguson Cox

Name: Sheri Ferguson Cox
Role at Wellspring: Ministry Team Overseer
Occupation: I try to serve God wherever I am but I suppose my main occupation is homemaker for my husband Thom! I was a successful homeschool teacher for 18 years (retired summer of 2008). Since January of 2006 I have served as a trained, volunteer mediator for the Dispute Settlement Center of Alamance County. We serve the District Court doing family and community mediation. In December of 2007 I took on the role of fitness trainer at a local Curves. I work a few hours a week there and it gives me an opportunity to really minister to the ladies that I meet.
Married/Kids: Thom and I married in July of 1981 and have been amazingly successful at it. We have three kids: Zachariah (born in 1985), Rachel (1987), and Joshua (1990). Zach is a graduate of UNC-CH, is self-supporting (lol), and is engaged to be married. Rachel is a senior at UNC-G, serves as a young adult leader with On Fire Youth in Greensboro, and is headed someday into full time ministry. Joshua began going on missions trips at age 15 and feels called to the mission field full time. He is currently pursuing a Spanish translators certificate (straight A’s!) at Alamance Community College and plans on transferring to a 4 year school as soon as he has finished that program.
Why do you love the Lord? Because He relentlessly, faithfully, personally pursued me…and He is just so lovable.
If you could give one piece of advice to any woman, what would it be? Stop running. God can be trusted. Turning into His arms is the very best thing that you can do with your life.
Most disastrous hair, make-up or wardrobe moment: 1983…I had hair 3/4 of the way down my back and all the same length. I decided that I would like to have it curly rather than straight. After spending 3 1/2 hours in a beauty salon trying to get a spiral perm (a new thing then) I came out with an afro that was about a foot and a half out each side of my head. It had to be cut off in order to tame it. I did it myself (since all faith in salons had been shattered and I had been cutting my own hair for a decade) and making that first layered cut was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. I only have one photograph of the fuzz…so don’t ask!
Favorite ice cream flavor: Mango Sorbet from Smitty’s Homemade Ice Cream.
Favorite place to shop: eBay and TJ Maxx :-) although Thom says it must be Walmart since we seem to spend so much of our money there.
Hobbies: I teach Heirloom Sewing…well, pretty much any, and all kinds of sewing. I also enjoy lots of other sorts of crafts, reading and some video gaming!
What is one of your dreams for the future? I want to see my children in marriage relationships that even excel my own in terms of Godliness, pure joy and satisfaction, and fruit produced. That’s what I’m praying for them anyway.

Saundra Littleton, board member Wellspring

Saundra Littleton

Name: Saundra Littleton
Role at Wellspring: Oversight of main meeting room at the conferences; set-up and clean-up at the conferences; dance ministry; flag ministry; creative expressions (art, drawing, clay); communion set-up at the conferences
Occupation: Homemaker
Married/Kids: Married to Wayne for 43 years, 3 daughters, 1 son, 12 grandchildren, 1st great grandchild in June.
Why do you love the Lord? Because of His amazing, amazing, amazing grace that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost but now I’m found, was blind but now I see! Praise His holy name!
If you could give one piece of advice to any woman, what would it be? Put Jesus first in everything you do! Submit yourself to Him wholly. Delight in Him, your Saviour, your friend, the Lover of your soul, your Priest and Intercessor, your King, and out of this will come blessing, strength, health, love, peace, endurance, wisdom, discernment, everything you could ever want or need to walk through this life in victory and glorifying God.
Favorite ice cream flavor: Charlie Brown – chocolate with peanut butter.
Favorite place to shop: Walmart and thrift shops. Anywhere I can find a bargain.
Hobbies: Sewing, cross-stich, knitting, just learning how to quilt, I’m enjoying that.
What is one of your dreams for the future? To see all of my children, their spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and any generations yet to come, until Jesus returns, loving and serving the Lord as He wills.

Vikki Faircloth, board member and conference overseer

Vikki Faircloth

Name: Vikki Faircloth
Role at Wellspring: Conference Administrator and Moderator
Occupation: Executive Assistant to President and Board of Directors of Trans World Radio
Married/Kids: Single mom to the lovely Ashley Wegner
Why do you love the Lord? He knows who I am and still chose to take me on The Great Adventure with Him.
If you could give one piece of advice to any woman, what would it be? We as women know there is a great Mystery within us that was designed by the Father-Son-Holy Spirit. Fear not, but embrace the extravagant love from God in creating us as women.
Most disastrous hair, make-up or wardrobe moment: Because of my natural shade of hair color I was able to go well into my 40’s without having to color my hair in order to hide the Evil Grey. But, the day came when the Grey became a little too noticeable for my comfort. So, it was on of those friend-of-a-friend deals where we were going to lightly color my hair to hide the Grey (the operative word here is lightly!!) However, it turned BLACK – not brown, not even a pretty, shiny black, but TAR, DEAD, BRITTLE, BLACK!!! I cried for days.
Favorite ice cream flavor: Black Cherry
Favorite place to shop: Hobby Lobby
Hobbies: Reading and dancing
What is one of your dreams for the future? I’m actually in one right now! I have the privilege of using my skills for a Christian organization in proclaiming and advancing the Gospel worldwide. My dream is to travel more and see first-hand the fruit of this ministry.
