God’s Presence in the Cool of the Day

What a terrific trip we had to Mt. Vernon, Illinois!  Gloria and I flew there this past weekend and watched the hand of God move in the women’s lives there.  The Lord spoke through Gloria in a mighty way.  He knew what they needed to hear.  However, I had to ask her if the Lord gave her the messages just for me!  I, too, was impacted by her words.

Here’s just a little recap:

The lie that screams at us at every turn, “Be independent!  Independence is a sign of strength!   Depend only on yourself!  You can only be successful by depending on yourself!” has caused us much struggle, pain and confusion in this life.  We were created from the beginning to be dependent on God.  We were created with that need for Him even before the fall.  We were created to be in His Presence, always.  Remember in Genesis 3:8 when God came and walked with Adam in the cool of the day?  In the cool of the day,  literally means a breeze, spirit, at a time when the Spirit of God was moving and present.  What a thrill to know that He still desires to walk with you and me, In the cool of the day.  He knows and longs for us to know that our only safe and restful place is found in our dependence on Him.

When Gloria and I were flying back into Fayetteville on Sunday night we came through a very lively thunderstorm.  I had not flown in years and was amazed at the Lord’s peace and Presence as our dependence that night was entirely on Him.  Bless God!  He is faithful and true.

This is only a tidbit of what the Lord will be speaking to us this next weekend at Wellspring in Kernersville.

There is still room to register. Please come, you will be blessed!

This reminds me of a song I have on a cassette.

In The Garden By CA Miles

I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And voice I hear falling on my ear
    The Son of God discloses

    And He walks with me
    And He talks with me
And He tells me I am His own
And the joy we share as we tarry there
    None other has ever known

He speaks and the sound of His voice
Is so sweet that the birds hush their singing
And the melody that He gave in my heart is ringing

    And He walks with me
    And He talks with me
And tells me I am His own
And the joy we share as we tarry there
    None other has ever known

And the joy we share as we tarry there
    None other has ever known

Saundra, Thank you for this post. God is teaching me that there is no such thing as an independent Christian. While I am better with leaning on Him, I struggle with depending on others. Fear keeps me from reaching out when I need help: fear of dismissal/rejection, fear of being an annoyance, fear of being disappointed by God’s family.
Perhaps, if I am depending more strongly on God, I would question less my dependence on others? I’d understand when God directed me to ask for assistance and do it, just as he tells us to do other things in life? Thanks for helping the process.
