Staying in the Safe Zone Continued

Posted on May 26, 2008 by Mama G in General

I’ve been getting a lot of response from women on my personal email, as well as the comments you see on this site, concerning the blog I posted last week about Oprah Winfrey and the new religion she is promoting. I am blessed that so many are seeing the danger, repenting of places of involvement or blindness (it’s so easy to let our minds go into passive gear when the TV is on!), and telling their friends about the danger of even the most casual involvement with occult things. Don’t be deceived, Oprah’s new religion is occultic indeed! Unfortunately, immature or careless Christians who are not rooted and grounded in the love of God and in His Word as revealed through the scriptures can be deceived by the seemingly love-filled tone they hear and see through Oprah. Her generosity and sympathy for the down-trodden makes us easily trust her in all areas, including the spiritual. That kind of trust is dangerous because, in this case, it appears that Oprah herself has been deceived by Eckhart Tolle and Marianne Williams and is speaking what she believes to be true. Deception is not an excuse that God excepts for sin, of course. Remember Eve in the Garden of Eden? Satan deceived her, but God did not excuse her! God holds us accountable to know what He has said.

We need to recognize that generosity is not an atonement for sin. Only the blood of Jesus cleanses us of sin. All the acts of kindness, the most generous of giving does not make us clean before God. I am so grateful that I don’t have to earn forgiveness from God! Jesus paid the price for my sin and I stand before Him totally clean just because I have received (and the Father in Heaven has accepted!) the blood of Jesus as payment in full for my sin. All I have to do to be accepted by God is to receive Jesus as my ONLY SAVIOR! Salvation does not come from myself, not from what I do or from what I think. Savation comes from God alone through Jesus Christ. Let’s pray that Oprah will be converted to the Only True and Living God and all who listen to her will hear and believe this Truth as well!

A good prayer point would be to ask Jesus to fulfill in Oprah’s life the parable of the lost sheep. Jesus says in Matthew 18: 12-14 that the Good Shepherd will go after the one who strays away and rescue it. Oprah once claimed to be a Christian, so it would appear that she qualifies as a “sheep straying from the fold.”  Wouldn’t it be great to see her renounce this false religion and return to the Living God? It staggers me to think of the consequences that will befall her if she does not repent, the same consequences that await her mentors! Jesus says it would be better to have a millstone tied around her neck and to fall into the deepest sea than to cause even one of His little ones to stumble. And we have not even talked about the consequence of eternal damnation in hell! So let’s call out to God for her return to the household of God and to her True Elder Brother and Savior Jesus Christ.

In the meantime let’s join forces in praying for those who watch her show, that they not fall prey to the schemes of the enemy! Let’s plead the blood of Jesus to protect the ears of His children and purify their hearts from the bad seeds that have been planted in their hearts. Let’s pray for Ellie and her cell group that the Holy Spirit will open the ears of this lady to hear the truth and turn away from the lies of the enemy. Let’s also pray for those Christians who are still watching Oprah’s TV show, that they WAKE UP and stop participating in evil!

I used to have a verse typed out and taped to the front of our TV. It said “bad company corrupts good character.” I think this verse applies to any program we watch regularly because we’re bored or lonely. I used to be a BIG proponent of Oprah, haven’ watched her much at all lately due to the fact that I don’t have time, but that’s all the better for me, huh? =) Even though she’s not IN our homes, she’s invited in the “door” of our homes through the tv screen, welcomed with a smile and a feeling of “ahhhh, my friend has come.” My mom sent me a set of Oprah’s youtube sitings and warning several weeks ago. I had no idea Oprah had gone this far.

Jesus, please call your little sheep back into the truth, by your great grace.

Thank you for your timely exhortations! I’ve noticed that since I have been walking closely with the Lord, that I have just lost interest in watching TV and hardly watch it anymore. To be honest, I’ve never really paid attention to Oprah. However, one of my closest friends (a christian who is no longer walking with the Lord) think highly of her and often quotes her during our conversations. I’ve been praying that God would open her eyes to the dangers of listening to “inspirational” messages that are not of God. I’ll be thinking of your exhortations the next time I talk to her. Thanks for not holding back from sounding the alarm!

    Holy Spirit fall on us
    Open our eyes to see
The false doctrines in this world
Open Oprah eyes to see that You are the Living God
There is no one besides You
You are the one and only true God
Open the eyes of the women of this world
To the falacies of new age and the occult
Help me and others to realize when we are being lied to
And the truth that sets us free
There are those of us who know the word inside and out
And I pray that we help others to see it too.
    Amen
